Likir Khaltse Trek – 9 days
Day 01: Start your adventure with an early morning flight from Delhi to Leh. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and relax for a while. After 2:00 PM, embark on a sightseeing tour of Leh, including popular attractions such as the Shanti Stupa, Sangkar Gonpa, and the local market.
Day 02: Enjoy a day trip to the Shey and Thikse monasteries, known for their stunning architecture and scenic views.
Day 03: Begin your trek by driving to Likir, located around 65 kms from Leh on the Kargil road. Explore the Likir monastery before starting your trek to Yangthang, which takes around 4-5 hours. The route will take you through Saspotse village and two small passes - Phobe La (3600m) and Chagatse La (3650m). Spend the night in a camp.
Day 04: Start the day with a trek to Ridzong Gompa, which takes approximately 5 hours. The path is lined with apricot and apple plantations and a stream. After reaching the monastery, explore the area before trekking back to Yangthang for an overnight stay.
Day 05: Trek to Hemis Shukpachan via Tsermangchen La (3750m) for a short and pleasant walk. Reach Hemis Shukpachan by afternoon and spend the rest of the day exploring the village. Overnight stay in a camp.
Day 06: Experience the Tranquil Beauty of Hemis Shukpachan and Temisgam
Begin your day with a pleasant 3-hour trek from Hemis Shukpachan to Temisgam. The trek passes through the breathtaking Maptek La, which sits at an altitude of 3750m, offering a stunning view of the Ang village. The trail leads down to Temisgam, where you will visit a ruined fort and a small monastery situated atop a hill. After exploring the area, spend the night camping under the starry sky.
Day 07: Trek from Temisgam to Khalsay
Take a leisurely 4-5 hour walk from Temisgam to Khalsay via Bongbongchan La, which stands at an altitude of 3650m. Khalsay is a popular stop for vehicles traveling between Leh and Kargil, where you can rest for a while before continuing your journey by jeep up to Lamaryuru Gompa. Enjoy the scenic beauty of the area before calling it a night.
Day 08: Visit Lamayuru Gompa
Start your day by visiting the Lamayuru Gompa, one of the oldest and largest monasteries in Ladakh. Located atop a hill, the monastery offers breathtaking views of the surrounding valley. Marvel at the stunning architecture of the monastery and learn about its rich cultural heritage. After the visit, return to Leh by road.
Day 09: Bid Adieu to the Enchanting Land of Ladakh
It's time to say goodbye to Ladakh as you depart from Leh to Delhi. Take one last look at the enchanting landscape and reminisce about the unforgettable memories created during your trip.
