Day 1 – Arrival in Leh and Acclimatization (Altitude: 3,500 m / 11,482 ft)
Your adventure begins with an arrival in Leh, the heart of Ladakh. After the breathtaking flight, which offers aerial views of the Himalayas, you'll be greeted and transferred to your hotel or guesthouse. This day is dedicated to acclimatization, as adjusting to Leh's altitude is crucial for the trek ahead.
Spend the day resting, drinking plenty of water, and taking short walks around Leh to aid in the acclimatization process. You can visit local markets, explore ancient monasteries, or simply enjoy the crisp mountain air as you prepare for the days to come. Remember, this is a key part of preparing for the high altitudes of Mt. UT Kangri.
Day 2 – Exploring Leh and Trek Preparation (Acclimatization Walk)
On day two, you’ll continue to acclimatize while exploring Leh's vibrant culture. Start with a visit to the colorful Leh Market, where you can browse local crafts, traditional Ladakhi textiles, and souvenirs. You’ll also have time to finalize any gear you might need for the trek.
In the afternoon, you’ll join your trek leader for an acclimatization walk around Leh. This helps your body gradually adjust to the increasing altitudes. Acclimatization in Leh is essential to ensure a smooth ascent during the expedition.

Day 3 – Drive to Rumtse Phu and Trek Begins (Drive: 86 km / Trek: 1 km)
On the third day, the real adventure begins as you leave Leh and head towards Rumtse Phu, a small hamlet nestled in the Ladakh valley. The scenic drive along the Leh-Manali highway takes you through remote villages, offering a glimpse of Ladakh's stark beauty.
Once you reach Rumtse Phu (altitude: 4,900 m), you'll trek a short distance to the base camp. This camp will be your home for the next few days as you acclimatize further and prepare for the climb ahead. The terrain gradually shifts from the dry valleys of Leh to the rugged alpine zones, signaling that you’re entering the heart of Ladakh.

Day 4 – Acclimatization and Mountaineering Training
Today is all about preparing for the ascent. Your trek leader will conduct mountaineering training, teaching you essential skills such as roping techniques, proper usage of ice axes, crampons, and safety procedures. This training is crucial for the final push to the summit.
An acclimatization walk is scheduled for the afternoon to help your body adjust to the higher altitude. This day is crucial for ensuring you’re physically and mentally ready for the challenges of high-altitude mountaineering.
Day 5 – Load Ferry to Summit Camp (Trek: 6 km / Altitude: 5,250 m)
On day five, you’ll trek approximately 6 km to ferry loads to the summit camp. This practice of carrying some equipment and food to the higher camp not only helps with acclimatization but also lightens the load for the final ascent. The trail is steep in sections, and you’ll need to pace yourself as you gain altitude.
After dropping off the equipment at summit camp, you’ll return to the base camp at Rumtse Phu for the night.
Day 6 – Trek to Summit Camp (Trek: 3 km / Altitude: 5,250 m)
Today, the group will relocate to summit camp. The trek is shorter, about 3 km, but it’s still challenging as you are now ascending to 5,250 meters. The higher you climb, the more you’ll feel the effects of altitude, so moving at a steady pace is important.
Once at summit camp, you’ll set up camp and make final preparations for the summit attempt. The excitement and anticipation build as the team gears up for the main challenge.
Day 7 – Summit Day: Conquering Mt. UT Kangri (Trek: 10 km / Altitude: 6,030 m)
This is the day you've been waiting for! Summit day begins early, around 2 or 3 AM, when the team sets out for the summit of Mt. UT Kangri. The climb involves navigating steep snow slopes and crossing potentially tricky sections where you'll need to rope up.
The final push to the summit is both physically demanding and exhilarating. As you reach the top at 6,030 meters, you'll be rewarded with spectacular views of the Ladakh range and beyond. The sense of accomplishment is unmatched as you stand atop one of the Himalayas' high-altitude peaks.
After savoring the moment, the team will descend back to base camp, skipping the summit camp. A well-deserved rest awaits after this monumental day.

Day 8 – Return to Leh (Drive: 86 km)
After the triumphant summit, it’s time to return to Leh. The drive back takes around 3 hours, allowing you to reflect on the journey and the incredible feat you’ve accomplished.
Back in Leh, you can celebrate with your fellow trekkers, recounting the adventure and reliving the high points of the expedition. This day marks the return to civilization after days of immersion in the rugged wilderness.
Day 9 – Departure from Leh
On the final day, you’ll depart from Leh, leaving with memories that will last a lifetime. If you wish to extend your stay and explore more of Ladakh, options abound. From visiting ancient monasteries to embarking on shorter treks, Ladakh offers endless opportunities for adventure.
